A fire outbreak razed property worth N2.6 million in Gurjiya village in Daura Local Government area of Katsina State.. Malam Abdulmumini Shuaibu, the Officer in-Charge of the Fire Service Sub Unit in the local council made this known in Daura saying it took his men six hours to quench the fire which started at about 8:47 am, adding that the cause of the incident was yet to be established. Shuaibu said the fire destroyed 10 locally made grains store, five cows, 25 goats, 30 chickens and a residential room, but no loss of life was recorded. He warned the people of the village against careless handling of fire and other inflammable substances. The fire officer said that they would intensify enlightenment campaign in the local government on preventive measures against fire outbreak. Fuel Subsidy: NNPC Nigeria's state owned Oil Company, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation {NNPC} has admitted it received a total of n4.95 trillion as fuel subsidy payment between 2006 and 2015. NNPC group managing director, Maikanti Baru disclosed this on Monday when he appeared before senate committee on petroleum (downstream) investigating over n5 trillion subsidy payment to NNPC. Testifying, Baru said while NNPC incurred a total sum of n5.12 trillion under the subsidy regime; it has received n4.95 trillion, leaving an outstanding sum of n170. 6 billion. NNPC finance director, Isiaka Abdulrasaq corroborated the claim of NNPC group managing director. Explaining how the subsidy regime worked, Abdulrasaq said the arrangement was such that NNPC had to pay for the crude oil it lifted at international market price and then sell refined product at government controlled price. Fire razes rice farm in Bauchi Jan 30, 2018 . 75 hectares of rice farm in Bauchi Local Government Area of Bauchi State has been razed down by fire. The fire, which lasted for hours destroyed the rice plantation worth millions. The rice farm, located at Liman, Katagum along Dass Road, belongs to two investors, a Director of Futlink West Africa Limited, Nasiru Mohammed, and one Auwal Mohammed. The supervisor of the farm, Ahmed Mohammed, confirming the incident said the cause of the fire was still unknown. According to him, the fire which lasted for more than two hours was aided by dry leaves and wind. He said “the fire has destroyed rice under cultivation worth millions of naira. “The fire was vicious, aided by dry leaves and wind. This farm has provided employment for over 1,000 youths in the state, so we are calling on stakeholders in the state to come to the aid of the investors, who have lost their source of livelihood.”

He said the defectors would join the party from all parts of the country . Buhari said this in a letter he sent to Senator Basheer Mohammed , who recently defected to the party in Kano . On behalf of my family and the people of Cross river state, I would like to express my sincere condolences to his family and friends. It is with great sadness that i write to bid farewell to one of our finest political role model and statesman. His legacies – will remain in our minds as the most gracious, altruistic, caring and committed leader. Pa Ekweme was justly revered for his dedication to peaceful change and to respect for the rule of law. His abhorrence of injustice formed the basis of his efforts to resolve conflicts without vengeance or bloodshed, and of his support for moderate policies in the Country. The Acting State Chairman of the Party, Chief John Ochalla, told journalists on Saturday evening that the decision to suspend the Minister was taken and ratified in the meetings of both the state working committee and the state executive committee, which held earlier on the same day. According to the State Acting Chairman of the party, the suspension of Usani is indefinite and with immediate effect for acts of indiscipline. Federer: wins in Australia, 20 Grand Slam titles overall Roger Federer has won his sixth Australian Open Grand Slam title and his 20th overall, defeating sixth seed Marin Cilic in five thrilling sets. The Swiss maestro easily took the first set 6-2, but lost the second in tie break to the Croatian. Some ex-militants have stage a protest against what they called the shady deals rocking the Amnesty Programme initiated by the Ondo state government. The ex militants under the aegis of United Sea-Wolf Avengers, the Niger Delta Militant Vanguard, the Awaja Camp, Dragon Camp and the Lion Camp alleged that the amnesty programme organised by the state government was a sham. The ex militants were at the premises of the Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC) in Oba Ile area of Akure, the state capital on two consecutive days last week. The protesters also prevented the staff and disallowed vehicular movement into the commission as they set up bonfire and placed fetish items at the front gate.
