Ekwueme’s Body Arrives Enugu The remains of Nigeria’s first elected vice President Dr. Alex Ifeanyi Chukwu Ekwueme, arrived the Akanu Ibiam international airport Enugu on Monday on board a Nigerian Air Force Hercules aircraft. Top political, traditional and religious leaders from across the country particularly his southeast region were on hand for the airport event. All the governors of the five south eastern states were present at the airport event. Archbishop of Enugu ecclesiastical province of the Anglican communion where DR. Ekwueme was a strong communicant, Emmanuel Chukwuma was also on hand to give him parting blessing. From the airport the body left for his Enugu residence at independence layout where it is expected to lay in state before its final journey. According to the official funeral programme, the entire south-east region of Nigeria will from Tuesday pay their last respects to one of their departed illustrious sons and leader beginning with a service of songs at the cathedral of the good sheppard at independence layout, Enugu.
