Nigeria... Senator Misau Re-Arraigned On Fresh Charges One of the vociferous critics of the Buhari government, Senator Issa Misau was on Monday docked on a fresh seven count charge of giving false information and conspiracy. Missau representing Bauchi central senatorial district in the senate was re-arraigned by the federal government before a high court of the federal capital territory, FCT, on an amended seven-count charge as against the initial five-count charge. The alleged offence, according to the prosecutor, Alex Iziyon is contrary to section 393 (1) of the penal code He was first arraigned before Justice Isqaq Usman Bello at Maitama, Abuja on October 19 and he pleaded not guilty after which he was granted a 5 million naira bail by the court. But on Monday, the prosecution counsel Alex Izinyon, informed the court of the amended charge which was then read to the defendant and he pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor said he would be calling three witnesses as well as a private television station to supply a copy of the interview in which the senator allegedly made disparaging remarks about the police and the inspector general. The case comes up on February 22, 2018.
