Dino Melaye: Police claims escaped suspects rearrested

Pfandergloria Mar 31, 2018 9:24 AM The Kogi State police command has confirmed the “re-arrest” of three out of the six suspects involved in the arms case against Senator Dino Melaye. The outgoing state commissioner of police, Ali Janga, confirmed the development on Friday. He, however, did not disclose the names of the arrested suspects. “Yes, it is confirmed, but note that I am no longer the CP, I have been removed, so next time talk to the new CP, ” Punch quoted him as saying. According to him, the suspects were re-arrested earlier on Friday. Janga also did not disclose the location they were nabbed. Two of the suspects reportedly sustained gun shot wounds when they attempted to flee from the police. They were said to be receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, as of the time of filling this report.

The man who claimed that his name is Daniel and hails from Edo state almost had his way in penetrating the boy from behind before he was caught by the boy’s elder sister. The sister raised an alarm as other residents and neighbors apprehended the suspect and beat him mercilessly. The suspect who said he is a bus conductor – confessed in a chilling footage how he was nabbed and also revealed that this is not the first time he has done something like that. Officer in charge of the board , Dahiru Nuhu , who made the disclosure in Kano , disclosed that the beggars were arrested at about 12. 15 pm in different parts of the city , including Bompai , Lodge Road and Danshaba motor ark . According to Nuhu , 68 of those arrested were street urchins , popularly called almajiri , aged between nine and 17 years . Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has faulted President Muhammadu Buhari ’ s decision not to sign the Africa Continental Free Trade Area ( ACFTA) agreement , describing the last minute withdrawal as a disappointment. The treaty is one of the flagship projects of the African Union Agenda 2063, aimed at creating a single continental market for goods and services , with free movement of business persons and investments and one currency. The Federal Government had delayed the signing of the treaty to allow for more deliberations and input from stakeholders , The government has set up a committee to work on the agreement before the President would sign it . PHOTO : CHANNELTV From the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission ( RMAFC ) came yesterday a declaration that the N 13. 5 million reportedly collected by senators as running cost is illegal . According to the commission, the payment is not covered by the Certain Political , Public and Judicial Office Holders ( Salaries and Allowances ) ( Amendments ) Act 2008 governing emoluments of political office holders in the country. RMAFC said only the National Assembly Service Commission could explain how the senators came to be paid such an unapproved allowance. The commission’ s clarification was contained in a statement issued yesterday by its spokesman, Mr . Ibrahim Mohammed.
