BREAKING: HDP vs Buhari: Tribunal rules in suit against President

The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal has dismissed the application seeking the withdrawal of Hope Democratic Party, HDP, from the petition challenging President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election.

Justice Mohammed Garba, while delivering the ruling, held that HDP and Chief Ambrose Owuru, its presidential candidate in the Feb. 23 general election, remained consenting plaintiffs in the eyes of the law.

Why Ex-Uefa Head Has Been Released Over Qatar World Cup June 19,2019 Michel Platini, the former head of European soccer association Uefa, was freed in the early hours of Wednesday after having been questioned over the awarding of the 2022 Fifa World Cup soccer tournament to Qatar. Platini's lawyer, William Bourdon, said his client was innocent of all charges and that he had been questioned on "technical grounds." France's national financial prosecutor's office, which specialises in investigating economic crimes and corruption, has been leading a probe into the awarding of the 2022 tournament to Qatar. It is looking into possible offences including private corruption, conspiracy and influence peddling. Platini is one of France's most famous sportsmen and soccer stars. He led France to victory in the 1984 European Championship and played in two World Cup semi-finals.

Buhari Pledges support for windstorm victims in Kastina.

Pfandergloria Jun 30,2018 President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday in Katsina assured that the federal government would provide assistance to those affected by the recent windstorm in the State. Mr Buhari gave the assurance at the palace of Emir of Katsina, when he visited Katsina State to commiserate with victims of the disaster. “I am in Katsina State to commiserate with those affected by the windstorm. I went to Bauchi where I saw devastating effects of the disaster. Tell all those affected that I sympathise with them. “I pray to Allah to avert future occurrence and that the government will assist those affected,” he said. The president said the government would send a delegation to assess the extent of the damage with a view to giving them all necessary assistance.
