REAL DEAL Pogba 'rejected new Utd deal in January' as Madrid grow 'optimistic' over move

March 31, 2019

REAL MADRID are reportedly “optimistic” they can sign Paul Pogba after he allegedly rejected talks over a new Manchester United contract.

The French midfielder is among Zinedine Zidane’s top targets as he looks to revamp the struggling La Liga giants.

He tried to sign the star from Juventus back in 2016 but Madrid were pipped to his signature by the Red Devils.

NEW CHALLENGE

That interest in the 26-year-old still remains strong , and Marca claim Bernabeu chiefs have renewed hope they can bring him to the Spanish capital as they plot a huge £125m swoop .

They claim Zidane knows the midfielder is desperate for a “change of scenery” to embark on “a new challenge at Real Madrid”.

And it also states Pogba ’s agent Mino Raiola has informed them “anything is possible” with regards to securing his client’s services.

The star is back on top form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after several fall-outs with Jose Mourinho.

EXTENSION REJECTION

And today’s report claims United wanted to stop speculation over his future and capitalise on the feel-good factor of Solskjaer’s appointment by opening talks on a new deal two months ago.

But his camp rejected that idea.

However, any potential transfer would prove very costly and would no doubt not be simple.

But despite the hefty price tag that would be on his head, Zidane remains keen.

And he is said to have told Real that his compatriot is the perfect man to “provide muscle, directness and quality” to Madrid .

United will be determined to hold on to their club-record signing and Marca also claim that they are due to hold talks with Pogba’s representatives again soon.

They state Raiola is due in Manchester in the upcoming weeks to discuss his player’s situation.
