Sophie’s parents have been left heartbroken

Sophie Gradon’s parents have broken their silence on their daughter’s death.

The former Love Island star was found by Northumbria Police in her parents’ home last Wednesday night, with her death not being treated as suspicious.

Since then, Colin and Deborah Gradon have maintained their silence as hundreds of reality stars, celebrities and fans flocked online to share their condolences.

Today in a statement released to Press Association, the Gradons said: ‘It has been one week since we lost our precious daughter and we as a family are still coming to terms with our sudden loss.

‘Our hearts are broken. We wish to say our goodbyes to Sophie in private so we ask that you respect our family’s privacy during this arduous time.’

Since Sophie’s death, sources have claimed that she was suffering from financial troubles and mental health woes – but had been acting upbeat before her death.

Her boyfriend Aaron Armstrong also revealed that they had even discussed marriage.

A friend of Sophie told The Sun: ‘We all thought Sophie was the happiest she had ever been.

‘She had suffered from depression and anxiety and there was talk of financial issues which obviously adds to the worry she was enduring.

‘Her friends thought she was in a great place as she was madly in love with her boyfriend and life was good.’

Those close to the Love Island star have poured their hearts out in tribute to her after news of her tragic and untimely death broke.

A friend of the family told Metro.co.uk: ‘Sophie was loved by all in the north east who knew her and her death leaves a massive void.
